The photo codes, and the one you should never skip.

Short commands you add to the end of a request in ChatGPT. Six of them are useful. The first one below is the one that stops the whole thing going wrong.

How to use them

  • Upload your photo and write what you want in plain English.
  • Put the code at the end of the request, with a slash.
  • Stack them. "Clean this up /remove background /identity preserve" is fine.
  • On any photo with a person in it, always include /identity preserve.
  • Fixing photos of people and places

    1

/identity preserve THE ONE TO NEVER SKIP

Add it to every edit that has a person in it. Without it each pass drags your face a little further from your face, and after three rounds the photo on your website is somebody else. With it, it changes what you asked for and leaves you alone.

    2

    /restore the faded one

An old photo that is torn, creased or washed out comes back clean. If you have been trading twenty years, this is your anniversary post.

    3

    /remove background for listings

Your product on plain white, ready for a marketplace listing, without paying anyone.

    4

/remove object the bin in the corner

Name the thing spoiling the shot and it goes. Usually a wheelie bin, a van, or someone's arm.

    5

    /golden hour bad light fixed

Relights the whole photo with warm, low sun. The fastest fix for anything shot in a badly lit unit.

    6

    /professional retouch polish, not plastic

Tidies a photo of you the way a retoucher would. Not the airbrushed version.

    7

/professional portrait phone selfie to headshot

Takes a phone photo and gives it the framing and lighting of a real headshot.

    8

/background change same you, new wall

Keeps you exactly as you are and swaps what is behind you.

    Making product images

    1

    /exploded view

Splits your product into its parts, floating apart like an engineering diagram. If you sell anything with components, this is your how-it-works image.

    2

    /cutaway

Slices the thing in half so someone can see inside. Good where the value is hidden.

    3

    /lego

Rebuilds your product as an official-looking Lego set. This is a social post, not a sales page, and it gets shared.

    4

Turns one product photo into a spin-around shot.

    5

    /blueprint

Technical-drawing style. Suits trades, makers and anything engineered.

    Two honest notes

  • Check the result before you publish it. These are quick, not perfect, and they will occasionally change a detail you cared about.
  • Say it is AI if it becomes your main photo. People work it out, and being caught costs more than a photographer would have.
